There is an all accessible path from the lower car park, which runs across the lower edge of the woodland back and forth. However, this loop follows a range of trails and terrains, some steep and narrow.

Stoke Woods is a sanctuary for many species including dormice, badger and bat, plus at least 40 species of woodland bird breed here. It is therefore designated with national conservation status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
It hosts both mixed native woodland and conifer plantation, homing some of the largest and oldest trees in Exeter. In the winter, a good pair of boots is recommended as many of the paths are steep and muddy.
There are many different trails you can take, plus two car parks (upper and lower).
To follow this loop:
Start at the Stoke Woods Upper car park and take the trail on the left, looking away from the main road.
Follow this trail vaguely downhill. It will get fairly narrow and steep in this section, passing through many large old trees, curving around towards the lower car park.
Once at the car park, follow the main trail along the lower edge of the woodland. Here you will have a view of the Exe on your left and leading towards a conifer plantation on your right.
Once past the plantation and before the end of the "main trail" take a steep right, into the woods.
This trail winds a little through the trees and takes you to the top corner of the woods by the Skirmish Paintball on the upper road.
